Construction Volunteers

How do I get started?

GROUPS If you are with a group who wants to participate on a construction site, then first contact Jena Ashby to schedule a date for your group.  Each build day we are looking for groups of 12 volunteers.  

INDIVIDUALS If you are not associated with a group, then please register through Volunteer Up for dates where a spot is available. Opportunities to assist beyond the construction site exist, so if you are interested in talking about different ways to volunteer, contact Jena Ashby.

When are Volunteer Hours?

 NEW Fridays and Saturdays are both construction days starting in 2009.

 Construction hours are normally from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Do I have to have construction skills to volunteer on a construction site?

No, all we ask is a willingness to learn and assist us in achieving our mission of   building affordable housing. Our construction team is skilled in home construction and working with volunteers with various skill levels. Come and learn how to build a house!

Do I need to bring anything to the construction site?

Sturdy shoes and a willingness to work and learn. Tools are provided but you may bring your own hand tools if you desire.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

The minimum age to volunteer on a construction site is 16. Both individuals and youth groups are encourage lending a helping hand. Each youth under the age of 18 must have a Youth Waiver signed by their parent or guardian granting permission to do volunteer work. This permission form is available on Volunteer Up when you register. Please print out the Youth Waiver from Volunteer Up when you register, have it signed by a parent or guardian and bring it to the job site on the day you volunteer.
