Construction Volunteers

How do I get started?

GROUPS

Group leaders may contact our Program Director, Jena Ashby, at jashby@munciehabitat.org or 765-286-5739.  The ideal group size is 10-12 volunteers per build day.

INDIVIDUALS

Contact our Program Director, Jena Ashby, at jashby@munciehabitat.org or 765-286-5739, to find out about our current opportunities.

When are Volunteer Hours?

  • Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are typical construction days.
  • Construction hours are normally from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Do I have to have construction skills to volunteer on a construction site?

No, all we ask is a willingness to learn and assist us in achieving our mission of building affordable housing. Our construction team is skilled in home construction and working with volunteers with various skill levels. Come and learn how to build a house!

Do I need to bring anything to the construction site?

Sturdy shoes and a willingness to work and learn. Tools are provided but you may bring your own hand tools if you desire.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

The minimum age to volunteer on a construction site is 16. Both individuals and youth groups are encouraged to lend a helping hand. Each youth under the age of 18 must have a Youth Waiver signed by their parent or guardian granting permission to do volunteer work.
