Apply For a House

You may be eligible for a Habitat home if you meet these three guidelines:

  1. I have a need for affordable housing.
    1. I do not own a home.
    2. My current housing is inadequate or too expensive.
    3. I am not able to obtain a conventional mortgage.
  2. I have the ability to pay a mortgage payment.
    1. I do not have unpaid liens or judgments.
    2. I have not declared bankruptcy within the last 12 months.
    3. My income falls within the guidelines below.
  3. I am willing to partner with Habitat.
    1. I am willing to partner with Habitat by completing 250 hours of "sweat equity".
    2. I am willing to pay a down payment of approximately $1,000.
    3. I will attend homeowner education classes.
    4. I am willing to live in the areas where Habitat is building.

Applications


Applications are available at application meetings held the 2nd Monday of each month.  The meetings are at 5:30 p.m. at the Habitat office at 1923 S. Hoyt Avenue.  Contact our Program Director, Jena Ashby, at 765-286-5739 or jashby@munciehabitat.org with any questions or to RSVP for an application meeting.


Family Selection Committee


The Family Selection Committee determines the families who will purchase homes from Greater Muncie, Indiana Habitat for Humanity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, handicap, religion, marital status, or if the applicant's income is fully or partially dependent on public assistance programs.
